Lakeside Eye Associates is seeking a customer-focused, knowledgeable Optician to join our team in Huntersville , North Carolina. As an Optician, you'll help patients select eyewear that complements their vision needs, lifestyle, and personal style. You'll educate patients on lens technologies, verify prescriptions, perform optical measurements, adjust and repair eyewear, and ensure every patient leaves confident in their purchase. What You'll Do:Optical Sales & Patient Care Welcome patients into the optical department.Interpret eyeglass prescriptions.Recommend frames, lenses, and lens enhancements based on patient needs.Educate patients on: Progressive lensesAnti-reflective coatingsBlue light protectionPhotochromic lensesPolarized lensesSpecialty lensesDeliver an exceptional customer experience throughout the eyewear selection process.Optical Measurements Take accurate measurements including: Pupillary Distance (PD)Segment HeightsOptical Center MeasurementsVerify prescriptions and ensure finished eyewear meets quality standards before dispensing.Frame Adjustments & Repairs Perform frame adjustments for comfort and proper alignment.Replace screws, nose pads, and temples.Complete minor repairs.Coordinate manufacturer warranty repairs when needed.Insurance & Administrative Duties Verify vision insurance benefits.Explain patient financial responsibilities.Process eyewear orders.Maintain accurate patient records.Coordinate with optical laboratories regarding orders and remakes.Inventory & Merchandising Maintain attractive frame displays.Keep the optical department clean and organized.Monitor frame inventory and reorder as needed.Qualifications:Required:High School Diploma or GED.Strong customer service and communication skills.Sales experience.Strong attention to detail.Computer proficiency.Ability to multitask.Professional appearance.Preferred:Previous Optician experience.ABO Certification or willingness to obtain certification.Experience processing vision insurance.Knowledge of ophthalmic lenses and frame styling.Optical sales experience.EMR or optical software experience.What Success Looks Like: Successful Opticians:Deliver exceptional patient service.Build long-term patient relationships.Consistently recommend lens options that improve patients' visual outcomes.Maintain accurate measurements and documentation.Minimize remakes and dispensing errors.Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, and front office staff.Maintain a welcoming, organized optical department.Why Lakeside Eye Associates?Established private practiceLoyal patient baseSupportive team environmentOpportunities for career growthModern technologyOngoing training and professional development If you're passionate about helping patients see clearly while delivering an exceptional customer experience, we'd love to welcome you to our team.
