Overnight Residential Counselor

Lund seeks an Overnight Residential Counselor to provide essential parenting and life skills support in our therapeutic living community. In this role, you will guide residents in their daily routines, helping them develop life skills, socialization techniques, and personal responsibility while maintaining a structured and supportive environment. Residential Counselors serve as positive role models, offering mentorship and encouragement while implementing individualized treatment plans. They monitor resident progress, provide crisis intervention, and help create a safe, nurturing space where residents can thrive. The position includes setting clear boundaries, supervising daily schedules, assisting with household responsibilities, and supporting personal hygiene and self‑care routines. You will also collaborate with the treatment team to report on progress and challenges, ensuring each resident receives the care they need. Additional Responsibilities Teach and supervise meal preparation Explain daily routine, schedules, and activities to new residents Transport residents when necessary Provide on‑site respite care to infants and young children in the program as necessary Complete nightly room checks and maintain adherence to safe sleep policy Administer medications, breathalyzers, and urinalysis once trained to do so Complete daily and monthly documentation as required Report to Shift Supervisor and Associate Director when incidents or discussions appear harmful, dangerous, or inappropriate and require further exploration and action Assist with floor coverage and planning as needed to ensure adequate staffing levels The pay rate is $24/hour, with a shift differential of $2.50/hour for overnight duties. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in a human services related field and at least one year of experience in mental health (relevant experience may substitute for a degree) Ability to juggle multiple priorities, deadlines, and demands; work well under pressure; respond to occasional off‑hours crisis; travel statewide to attend meetings; and work irregular hours to meet the needs of a 24‑hour facility Ability to assist with childcare, including lifting infants and toddlers; assist in social skill training such as cooking and cleaning Valid VT Driver’s License and reliable transportation (occasionally statewide travel may be required) Successful completion of background and driving checks is a condition of employment Lund does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, genetic information, ancestry, place of birth, age, veteran status, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
