Yard Assistant

This position is responsible for working alongside the yard crew and general management/maintenance of construction equipment in the yard at Beaver Excavating headquarters in Canton, OH. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities Follows all corporate safety guidelines Insures yard is kept in an orderly manner and all inventory is accessible Cleans up and organizes construction materials and equipment Loads and unloads heavy equipment on lowboy and drop deck trailers with heavy equipment and large forklifts Performs inventory of yard stock Supports both office and field as needed Helps with snow removal and salting Helps with misc. office maintenance needs, such as moving filing cabinets and other furniture Delivers small parts to job sites as needed Other tasks as assigned Skills & Requirements Strong communication skills working with several departments and managers simultaneously Strong organizational skills put to use with knowledge of construction materials and equipment Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent 5 years of previous construction experience with a heavy contractor Prior experience with forklift and heavy equipment such as dozers, track hoes, loaders, etc. Prior experience with industrial construction materials such as pipe, scaffolding, trench boxes, etc. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
