Residential Direct Support Professional Part Time Professional Iowa City, IA, US 1 Attachments Residential Direct Support Professional – Position Summary MYEP is seeking Direct Support Professionals to support adults with disabilities in our residential program. Direct Support Professionals assist individuals in their homes and communities while promoting independence, dignity, and meaningful daily experiences. Staff provide supervision, guidance, and assistance with daily living activities while supporting individuals in building skills, maintaining relationships, and participating in their community. Our residential homes provide 24/7 support , so a variety of shifts are available including day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts . Both awake overnight and asleep overnight positions may be available depending on the home assignment. This position requires reliability, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while providing respectful, person-centered support. Primary Responsibilities May Include Daily Living Support Assisting individuals with daily routines and household activities Supporting meal preparation and basic cooking tasks Encouraging independence in personal care and hygiene Assisting with organization, budgeting, and daily planning Community & Social Support Supporting individuals in community activities, appointments, and outings Encouraging social engagement and skill development Helping individuals build relationships and participate in meaningful activities Health & Safety Monitoring Monitoring general health and wellbeing of individuals supported Medication administration according to training and agency procedures Recognizing and reporting changes in health, mood, or behavior Documentation & Communication Completing progress notes and required documentation for each shift Communicating important updates to supervisors and team members Following individual service plans and agency procedures Residential Direct Support Professionals typically work in small residential homes supporting a small group of individuals. Staff may work independently or as part of a team depending on the shift. The position requires flexibility, problem solving, and the ability to provide consistent support in a home environment while maintaining professionalism and respect for the individuals served. Staff may assist with transportation, attend appointments, and support individuals in a variety of community settings. We offer a variety of shift options to meet both staff and program needs. Common shift times include 8:00 AM–3:00 PM, 3:00 PM–10:00 PM, and overnight shifts from 10:00 PM–8:00 AM.
