Job DetailsPosition Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $16.35 HourlyMarketing & Communications AssistantThe Greensboro Science Center’s (GSC) Marketing & Communications Assistant is a part-time position that reports to the Marketing Manager. This position assists with planning and implementing marketing, digital communications, and community engagement strategies to promote GSC attractions, events, and initiatives. Writing, editing, graphic design, and organizational skills are required. This is a part-time, hourly position (approximately 25 hours per week) with the opportunity for growth.Knowledge Of:Marketing and communications best practices, preferably with coursework or experience in a related field and/or the tourism, hospitality, or attractions industriesDigital communication and social media platforms and best practicesGraphic design, photography, and visual communication principlesGoogle Analytics and Google WorkspaceCloud-based programs such as WordPress, Dropbox, Google Drive, and Adobe Creative CloudDesign software, like Adobe Illustrator and/or Adobe PhotoshopDemonstrated Skill In:Excellent verbal and written communication that is audience-focused and demonstrates appropriate grammar, technical skills, and tonePhotography and visual content creation for marketing and communicationsDesign and visual communication, including the ability to create engaging digital and print marketing materialsData analysis and interpretationCreative thinking and proactive problem-solvingPrioritization and time managementCustomer service and interpersonal/people skillsResponsibilities and Duties:Develop a thorough knowledge of the GSC’s operations and brandAssist with developing, distributing, and updating internal and external marketing and communications content across social media, email, website, calendars, and various advertising channelsAssist with managing the GSC’s social media platforms, including scheduling content and responding to comments, messages, and online reviews in a timely, brand-appropriate mannerAssist with the creation and design of marketing and communications materials, including digital graphics, flyers, signage, rack cards, social media graphics, email graphics, and other promotional materials, while maintaining GSC brand standardsAssist with media relations efforts, including coordinating requests, facilitating on-site media visits, providing tours, and supporting or participating in on-camera interviewsSupport community outreach efforts through tabling events, local partnerships, and other promotional opportunitiesTrack and report on social media, email marketing, and other analyticsResearch and maintain current knowledge of industry trendsMaintain a strong work ethic and a flexible, professional, and team-oriented outlookOther duties as assignedEnvironmental Factors:This is a part-time position with hours typically totaling approximately 25 hours per week, with the ability to work a flexible schedule on occasion, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings as needed.Some work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.Some work requires the ability to curate content or conduct tours in a zoo and aquarium environment, which can include traversing a 22-acre zoo and maneuvering in back-of-house areas.This position requires standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.Ability to communicate and interact with both individuals and large groups is required.Work will take place in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and will involve being outdoors for various lengths of time under a variety of conditions with exposure to various plants and animals.Qualifications #J-18808-Ljbffr Greensboro Science
