In this job, you’ll supervise a highly specialized workforce of lead craft positions that performs routine and emergency operations of the SCE electrical system for grid reliability. As a Senior Substation Supervisor, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities Lead a highly specialized workforce that performs both routine and emergency electrical system operations, providing performance feedback and facilitating continuous training, leadership, and development opportunities. Monitor switching center budgets and adjust as necessary. Oversee the monthly inspection of substation properties and facilities for safety, system integrity, and environmental compliance. Coordinate and develop construction programs and detailed switching procedures to accommodate system configuration changes. Confirm appropriate operation of equipment and compliance with system requirements, procedures, and protocols, driving a safety-focused culture among staff. Participate in investigations of substation equipment failures and performance errors, identifying and resolving key issues promptly and effectively through corrective action. Balance support for change initiatives and new technologies without compromising cost efficiency. Monitor and develop workloads to facilitate smooth workflow and resource utilization throughout the workforce. Ensure protection of all physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly access and manage private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Four or more years of combined experience performing or supervising planning, design, maintenance, standard & development, system operations, or engineering in a substation operations environment. Possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Experience supervising union employees in an electric utility. Experience in grid operations and/or power system management. Additional Information This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs. Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
