Retail Store Manager

Position Summary The General Manager is responsible for the overall success and daily operation of a high-volume convenience store and gas station. The manager oversees daily station operations, including opening and closing procedures, monitoring fuel levels, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring pumps and equipment are functioning safely. The role includes supervising staff, scheduling shifts, training team members, and supporting a respectful, customer-focused work environment. This role focuses on driving profitability, operational excellence, and sales growth. The manager leads, motivates, and develops a high-performing team to ensure consistent adherence to Kelly Fuels’ standards for safety, cleanliness, inventory control, and customer service. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Manage daily station operations, including fuel levels, opening/closing procedures, and facility maintenance. Financial Performance: Actively monitor labor costs, inventory shrinkage, and cash shortages. Provide guidance and corrective action on controllable measures to ensure budget adherence. Team Development: Recruit, orient, train, and coach staff. Conduct timely performance reviews, foster a positive work environment, and maintain staffing levels to meet service demands. Sales & Merchandising: Oversee product merchandising, displays, and promotional activities to maximize store appeal and sales. Customer Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for customer concerns. Promote the Kelly Fuels brand within the community and maintain a proactive, service-oriented store atmosphere. Strategic Execution: Act as a vital link between HQ and the workforce, implementing new corporate initiatives and ensuring consistent field execution. Qualifications Proven management experience in high-volume retail, convenience store, or fuel station operations with the ability to manage daily workflows and prioritize tasks. Strong supervisory skills with a demonstrated ability to train, motivate, and develop teams. Proficiency with P&L statements, inventory management systems, and cash handling procedures. Strong customer service and communication skills, with a professional and courteous approach to customers and colleagues. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate company goals and policies effectively to staff at all levels. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety practices, compliance, and world-class customer service. Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible shifts (evenings, weekends, holidays). Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks as needed. Basic cash handling, point-of-sale, and inventory management skills, including attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to work on-site in the Greater Jackson, MI Area, including standing for extended periods and performing light physical tasks. High school diploma or equivalent; prior management experience in a gas station or similar environment is preferred.
