Job Title: Medical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EPIC experience required Proficient in IV start Experience with telemetry Competency with ventilators Description: The Medical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse provides care to critically ill patients. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts, rotating every four weeks between days and nights. Patient ratios are estimated at 1:1 to 1:2. Key responsibilities include managing the care of ventilated patients and administering continuous IV sedation. The nurse will interpret and manage dysrhythmias and provide care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. Experience with conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, and diabetic ketoacidosis is essential. Familiarity with specialized procedures, including continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia and the use of externalized IV pumps for COVID+ patients, is preferred. Knowledge of specialized equipment, such as NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV Pump, GE Cardiac Monitor, and GE Ventilator, is necessary. The role may require floating to different units as needed. Two professional references are required for consideration.
