Quality Control Manager

We are a small, hands-on manufacturer of hermetic packages, covers, carriers, housings, and laser-welded assemblies for defense, aerospace, microwave, biomedical, and commercial customers. We are opening a new facility in the Nashville area and are looking for a Quality Manager who can own the quality system and still get on the bench and inspect parts.

This is not a desk-only quality role. You will lead the program to AS9100 and AS9003, and you will also read drawings, build inspection plans, and check machined and laser-welded hardware before it ships.

What you will do

•         Lead and improve the quality program against AS9100 and AS9003, with a focus on aerospace and defense requirements.

•         Own the quality manual, procedures, document control, and the records that support customer and internal requirements.

•         Read customer drawings, specifications, and quality clauses, then build inspection plans that fit the part and the process.

•         Inspect machined and laser-welded components with a vision measuring machine, precision hand tools, and other measurement equipment. Release only parts that meet dimensional, visual, and quality requirements.

•         Create First Article Inspection Reports to AS9102.

•         Run the calibration program: schedules, status, requirements, and records.

•         Train employees, keep training records, and make sure training comes from qualified people.

•         Plan and perform internal audits. Host customer audits, answer questions, and close findings.

•         Run MRB and nonconformance activity: investigate, document, disposition, and follow up. Do root-cause analysis and put corrective actions in place that actually stick.

•         Work directly with customers on quality questions, and with manufacturing from planning through final inspection.

•         Set the tone: accountability, continuous improvement, and meeting the customer requirement.

What you bring

•         Experience running or supporting a quality system in aerospace, defense, or a similarly regulated machine shop or welding shop.

•         Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9003. Familiarity with AS9102 first-article requirements.

•         Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and turn them into a practical inspection plan.

•         Hands-on inspection skill with VMMs, micrometers, calipers, height gages, and related tools.

•         Experience with NCRs, MRB, corrective action, internal audits, and customer audits.

•         Clear writing and a calm way of working with customers and the shop floor.

You will report to the owners and see the effect of your work on real hardware. The shop is moving into a new Nashville facility, so this is a chance to shape the quality system as we grow, not inherit a process you cannot change.

Compensation based on experience.
