Firmware Validation Engineer

A Kforce technology client is currently looking for a Firmware Validation Engineer for a long-term contract that is fully onsite. Must work with PST hours. This position requires working onsite five (5) days per week. Summary: Our client is seeking a hands-on Firmware Validation Engineer to join a team focused on connectivity, audio, and streaming technologies within embedded systems. This role is centered on manual testing, defect triage, root cause analysis, and expanding validation coverage for highly visible customer-facing features. The ideal candidate will take ownership of day-to-day test execution, defect quality, and field issue triage while partnering closely with firmware and product teams. Responsibilities:

• Execute manual functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing on embedded firmware features
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and validation documentation
• Identify testing gaps and expand coverage across connectivity, audio, and streaming functionality
• Reproduce defects, analyze logs, and perform root cause investigations using debugging and diagnostic tools
• Triage field-reported issues and collaborate with engineering teams to drive resolution
• Manage defects throughout the full lifecycle, including documentation, severity assessment, verification, and regression testing
• Maintain test benches, in-vehicle test environments, and diagnostic equipment
• Partner with firmware engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and release readiness
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in firmware validation, embedded systems testing, or QA engineering
• Proven experience creating and executing test plans, identifying coverage gaps, and managing defects through resolution
• Hands-on experience validating connectivity technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE/5G, GNSS, or vehicle networking
• Strong debugging and log analysis skills utilizing tools such as Wireshark, ADB, DLT, Bluetooth/HCI traces, or similar technologies
• Experience reproducing and troubleshooting issues from production or field environments
• Python scripting experience for automation, log analysis, and repetitive validation tasks
• Proficiency working in Linux/Ubuntu environments
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile software development methodologies
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional engineering environment

• Experience with audio, streaming, media casting, infotainment, or in-cabin entertainment systems
• Bluetooth stack validation experience, including pairing, A2DP, HFP, AVRCP, and interoperability testing
• Background supporting wireless connectivity technologies
• Experience within, robotics, automotive, or fleet-based environments
