While our company has evolved, our commitment remains the same: building exceptional projects, fostering strong relationships, and shaping the future together.Position SummaryThe Senior Project Manager reports to the VP of Operations and provides leadership across multiple projects and project teams. This role is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. The SPM provides advanced technical oversight, manages high?risk or high?value projects, supports business development efforts, and mentors Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Coordinators.Strategic Project LeadershipLead all phases of large, complex, or high?risk commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.Establish and maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost controls; ensure successful delivery within company profit, safety, and quality expectations.Identify schedule conflicts, scope gaps, and discrepancies in plans, contracts, and specifications; lead resolution with minimal oversight.Provide senior?level judgment and decision?making to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and in compliance with all requirements.Represent the company with professionalism in all client, design team, and industry engagements.Advanced Project Coordination & CommunicationServe as the primary liaison between Owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.Coordinate complex project logistics between office and field operations, ensuring clear and consistent communication across all stakeholders.Prepare and deliver clear, well?structured project reports, presentations, and updates to Owners and company leadership.Demonstrate expert written and verbal communication skills in all project meetings, negotiations, and presentations.Operational Oversight & Technical ExecutionOversee procurement activities including subcontractor buyout, material purchasing, and vendor negotiations.Review and approve change orders, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, Owner billings, and subcontractor invoices.Ensure accurate and timely cost coding, financial tracking, and forecasting for each project.Manage project closeout including punch lists, warranties, O&M manuals, and as?built documentation.Maintain expert knowledge of construction means, methods, scheduling, sequencing, and industry best practices.Team Leadership, Mentorship & Performance ManagementLead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Coordinators.Provide constructive performance feedback, guidance, and training to advance team capabilities.Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.Set expectations and provide leadership during project kickoff meetings, progress meetings, and conflict?resolution discussions.Support creation of internal training programs and knowledge?sharing initiatives in areas of specialty.Risk Management, Quality, and Safety OversightEnsure all projects adhere to company safety standards and regulatory requirements.Lead proactive risk mitigation efforts including schedule review, contract analysis, and contingency planning.Monitor jobsite performance to ensure compliance with quality standards, contract documents, and best practices.Address technical or operational issues promptly and independently to maintain project momentum.Business Development & Client Relationship ManagementParticipate in marketing presentations, business development efforts, proposal interviews, and pursuit strategies.Build and maintain strong long?term relationships with Owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and community partners.Represent Metcalf Builders in industry organizations, professional associations, and community leadership opportunities.Demonstrate executive?level communication and presentation skills when engaging with clients and stakeholders.Organizational Impact & Company LeadershipContribute to strategic planning, operational improvements, and company initiatives.Provide leadership on high?value pursuits, new market opportunities, and complex project negotiations.Serve as a role model for the company's core values: Safety, Integrity, Trust, and Excellence.Support continuous refinement of processes, technology adoption, standard operating procedures, and company culture.Qualifications, Education & ExperienceQualifications7+ years total construction experience.Minimum 5 years in a Project Manager leading projects independently.Extensive experience managing large, complex, high-risk, or multi-phase commercial projects.Proven ability to lead multiple teams, mentor staff, manager risks and support business development.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience working at a senior level.
