Senior Director, US Oncology Product, Pipeline and Patient Communications & AdvocacyLocation: Philadelphia, PA | Durham, NCThe Senior Director, US Oncology Product, Pipeline and Patient Communications & Advocacy is responsible for leading all aspects of communications and patient advocacy for GSK's US Oncology portfolio, helping advance GSK's oncology growth ambitions while shaping clear and trusted engagement strategies that support innovation, expand access, and improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.As a key member of the US Communications & Government Affairs (CGA) organization, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, helping shape the external environment for growth, strengthen GSK's reputation, and ensure patient perspectives are reflected in business decision-making.Working closely with Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Government Affairs, Policy and Global teams, you will develop integrated strategies that advance portfolio growth, support critical business and scientific milestones, and deliver measurable impact for patients and the business. You will lead and develop a team responsible for communications and advocacy initiatives spanning portfolio and pipeline assets, clinical and regulatory milestones, major congresses, launches, disease awareness programs, executive communications, reputation-building efforts, and patient engagement initiatives. In addition, you will be accountable for robust internal and external plans aligned with US Oncology and broader GSK priorities to drive growth, accelerate innovation, and simplify how we work.Key Responsibilities:This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Lead integrated communications and patient advocacy strategiesLead integrated communications and advocacy strategies across the US Oncology portfolio, managing a team of communications and advocacy professionals while aligning cross-functional and global partners.Lead patient advocacy strategies that elevate patient perspectives, strengthen partnerships with advocacy organizations, and inform business and policy decision making.Support portfolio growth and launch excellenceDevelop and execute integrated plans supporting priority brands, launch assets, pipeline programs, clinical data milestones, regulatory events, business development initiatives, and scientific congresses.Partner closely with Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Policy and Government Affairs teams to support launch readiness, disease awareness, access objectives, and stakeholder engagement priorities.Shape the external environmentDeliver clear, data-driven, science-based engagement strategies for patients, healthcare professionals, caregivers, advocacy organizations, media, and other key stakeholders.In partnership with corporate media and global communications teams, secure positive recognition and visibility for oncology data, innovation, scientific leadership, business milestones, and patient impact.Protect and strengthen reputationOwn external and reputational issues management for the oncology portfolio and coordinate strategic responses that protect and strengthen GSK's reputation.Lead communication and advocacy strategies that support business performance, transformation, culture, and employee engagement across the US Oncology organization.Advise senior leadersProvide communications and patient advocacy leadership and counsel to the Head of US Oncology and the Oncology Leadership Team.Operate as a trusted advisor and influential thought partner to Oncology leaders and the broader US Communications & Government Affairs organization.Build capability and drive innovationMeasure impact through clear outcomes and performance indicators, leveraging data, analytics, stakeholder insights, and emerging technologies to continuously improve effectiveness.Manage and develop team members and agency partners to deliver consistent, high-quality work while ensuring compliance with GSK standards and policies.Why you?Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree.10+ years of communications, patient advocacy, public affairs, corporate affairs, or related experience.3+ years of recent experience in product communications, issues management, media relations, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, public affairs, and/or brand communications.3+ years of recent people leadership experience.3+ years of recent experience working across global and matrixed organizations.Must have oncology experience, including experience supporting oncology assets and product launches.Preferred QualificationsStrongly prefer oncology experience, including experience supporting oncology assets and product launches.Advanced degree in communications, public policy, healthcare, business, life sciences, or related discipline.Experience in oncology, biopharmaceuticals, healthcare, public health, or patient advocacy organizations.Deep understanding of the US oncology ecosystem, including patients, healthcare professionals, advocacy organizations, policymakers, payers, and other external stakeholders.Demonstrated success leading communications and advocacy strategies for launches, pipeline milestones, clinical data disclosures, and issues management.Experience building and developing high-performing teams and talent pipelines.Strong business and commercial acumen, including understanding of product lifecycle management, launch excellence, and portfolio growth.Proven strategic thinker with the ability to connect communications and advocacy strategies to business outcomes.Strong external orientation with demonstrated success building trusted stakeholder relationships.Excellent judgment, integrity, and decision-making capabilities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, and ability to influence senior leaders.Experience managing agencies, budgets, and complex cross-functional initiatives.Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.Enterprise mindset with demonstrated ability to translate global priorities into local impact.#LI-GSKSkillsContent Development, Corporate Copywriting, Crisis Communication Management, Data Analytics, Digital Fluency, Reputation Management, Risk Management, Social Media, Stakeholder Management, Strategic PlanningPlease visit GSK US Benefits Summary to learn more about the comprehensive benefits program GSK offers US employees.
