Position Summary Orlando Health Physician Associates is one of the largest primary care provider groups in Central Florida, comprising the PCP network of the Orlando Health Medical Group. Over 225 providers deliver care in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and podiatry. Our PCPs provide care for all ages from childhood development to pregnancy and childbirth services, chronic disease management, and aging concerns. As part of Orlando Health, our providers can refer and coordinate care throughout the system’s integrated network of healthcare services. Location 3236 North Poinciana Blvd. Kissimmee, FL 34746 Hours Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm Other Details Must be bilingual: English and Spanish. Float between Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, OBGYN, and Behavioral Health. Responsibilities Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues. Embrace and participate in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities. Support and demonstrate effective and professional communication with patients and family members. Work collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff. Gather patient data through interview and observation. Assist patients and families with preparation for examination. Assist the physician or APP during examination and procedures. Demonstrate competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice. Provide routine treatments and administer approved medication types. Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department‑specific policies. Act as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule and provide scheduling information for specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation. Process incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment. Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under the direction of a provider. Adhere to and assure compliance with Orlando Health and department‑specific policies, procedures, value statements and Commitment to Excellent standards. Consistently demonstrate personal and patient safety practices and adhere to infection control standards outlined in Orlando Health policies. Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assess data appropriate to the age‑specific needs of patients in the assigned department and/or unit. Demonstrate awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Practice efficient use of supplies. Assist the business office as needed with reception, scheduling and discharge of patients. Qualifications Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting. Licensure/Certification Maintain current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification. Maintain current certification or registration by one of the following agencies: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Health Career Association (NHA); Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or American Allied Health (AAH); or an accepted Medical Assistant certification or registration from another agency considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
