This position serves as a Rehabilitation Technician for the Blind/Visually Impaired in the Division of Blind Services District 5 Satellite Office, located in Cocoa Beach, Florida . The incumbent in this position will demonstrate accountability and support towards the goals of the agency leadership and communicate the same to other employees and stakeholders. This includes support to agency leadership on all program related actions and activities, and as otherwise directed. The incumbent must model, demonstrate, and guide other employees in the use of the principles of flexibility, adaptability, and approachability – while adhering to applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Note: The omission of specific job duties does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.) The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions: Is responsible for providing intake services and assisting with case management activities as directed by the District Administrator, Assistant District Administrator, and the Human Services Program Consultant (Employment Program Consultant). Gather eye medical and other information for the purpose of eligibility determinations by the Human Services Program Consultant. This position requires an understanding of various eye conditions and their impact on functional abilities, knowledge of community resources, and the ability to convey that knowledge as it relates to eligibility and provision of rehabilitation services. Reviews applications and referrals, gathers necessary data, informs applicants of available services, provides information and referrals. Processes referrals and applications and documents case activities in accordance with State/Federal laws and regulations, program procedures, and timeframes. Utilizes the electronic client information system (AWARE) as a case management tool. Provides case management support, including purchase of services to the Human Services Program Consultants, (to include the Employment Program Counselors, Employment Placement Specialists, and the Independent Living/Children’s Program Counselor) in the District. Assist the Human Services Program Consultants with monitoring of facility cases, including case closures. Works in conjunction with the Human Services Program Consultants to ensure timely provision of services. Provides information and referral services for individuals who are eligible or ineligible for DBS Services. Accurately enters data into the electronic client information system (AWARE). Provides data and reports from AWARE as needed. Independently prepares correspondence and other documents, including travel forms as directed. Serves as the Travel Liaison for the Cocoa Satellite Office by completing all travel authorizations and reimbursements within allotted timeframes accurately and error free. Processes Purchasing Card (P-Card) charges immediately after using -following all guidelines currently put into place. Processes Administrative Purchase Orders (P.O’s) in the MFMP system in accordance with State, FDOE, and Division purchasing guidelines and serves as backup for the Daytona Beach Office as needed. Provides telephone coverage in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner, delivers messages accurately and in a timely manner. Processes incoming/outgoing mail in accordance with District procedures. Sets up case files and maintains correct case file order as assigned. Effectively and appropriately maintains uses and monitors District funds, equipment and resources. Travel may be required to complete assigned duties. Effective communication skills (including proficiency in computer word processing and data entry procedures, comparable services and benefits, eye diseases and their functional impact and agency services). An ability to establish and maintain education and experience requirements to ensure an understanding of the evolving labor force and the needs of individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) to five (5) years of professional and relevant experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment. Sick Leave - Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month.BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:
