About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM Must-Have: Two (2) years of acute care RN experience Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises as indicated. Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and patient/family. Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs. Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor/preceptor and demonstrates teamwork. Identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. Complies with regulatory standards and participates in performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems and promotes cost-effective care. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful information prior to communication to others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs. Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care. Makes use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. Reads journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice and brings ideas for assessment of applicability.
