Your Role on the Team The position of Nurse Practitioner Per Diem (43%) in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine & Palliative Medicine requires a highly competent, independent yet team‑oriented individual who will be immersed in Hospital Medicine. Under the general supervision of Alpesh Amin, MD and guided by applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multidisciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills, and experience necessary to provide advanced nursing care in their area of specialization. Responsibilities Functions as appropriate to the scope of practice, including management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures. Familiarity with state statutes for licensing is required. Approved privileges are unique to each person and may not include ALL privileges. May provide patient care across age groups based on educational preparation and in all Health‑licensed settings and affiliates. Has responsibility for the standards of care for the specified patient population and demonstrates self‑direction and accountability to quality of care and the development of the role across all Health locations and affiliates. Must be credentialed to practice and be privileged through Medical Staff to function in the clinical role. Credentialing and approval of privileges must be completed prior to the first working day. Is accountable to, evaluated by, and receives feedback from the supervising/collaborating physician, physician designee(s) in the same clinical specialty, or the Administrative Manager. Population served: Adult population. Qualifications & Requirements Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System. Exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, other paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency and law enforcement officers. Demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Skill to clearly communicate medical information to a broad variety of people, both in person and over the telephone. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Write clear medical reports, laboratory data, and progress notes. Maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures. Understand and adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information. Successfully complete an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire. Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.
