Position Summary:
Maintains safe and secure environment for clients, volunteers, and employees by patrolling and
monitoring premises and personnel.

Position Responsibilities:

• Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting and/or denying entry based on restriction status
• Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures; removing trespassers.
• Completes daily reports by recording observations, information, incidents and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses
• Maintains organization stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
• Conducts bag checks, roster reviews, and understands contraband policies
• Coordinate and manage regular locker searches for contraband
• Uses de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care practices in working with clients and external constituents

Education and Experience:

• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Customer service: 1 year (Required)

License and Certification:

Security license G (Required)

• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures
• Ability to follow complex instructions
• Ability to maintain emotional control
• Ability to deal with uncertainty
• Ability to use good judgement
• Knowledge of surveillance skills

Work Environment: General office environment with standard accessible office equipment. This
position does not require unusual physical ability. Reasonable accommodations may be made

Pay rate is based upon experience

The Kearney Center is a 24-hour comprehensive emergency service center that serves as a point of entry into assistance by coordinating services and responding to immediate needs of individuals until appropriate permanent housing can be arranged. We opened in April 2015 as a one-stop-shop for individuals experiencing homelessness or economic hardship in the North Florida region. The Kearney Center provides overnight shelter and daytime services that connect clients with social service providers, case management, and housing-focused programs. The most basic needs (such as a warm shower, hot meal, and clean clothes) are provided alongside information and referrals to a variety of social service agencies in our community.
