• Core Purpose: Help individuals set recovery goals, navigate health care and community resource systems, and build self-advocacy skills.
• Work Environment: A mix of office settings, healthcare facilities, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Engagement: Build trusting, non-judgmental relationships using personal recovery narratives to inspire hope and model wellness.
• Goal Planning: Assist clients in creating self-directed, strength-based recovery and wellness plans.
• System Navigation: Connect individuals to local community resources, housing programs, or medical and behavioral health appointments.
• Group Facilitation: Co-lead peer support circles, psycho-educational classes, or skill-building workshops.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of interactions within agency databases or electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Team Collaboration: Work alongside case managers, social workers, and clinical staff as part of a multidisciplinary care team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Lived Experience: Personal, direct experience with mental health or substance use recovery, typically requiring at least 1 year of stable active recovery.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Certification: Eligibility or active status as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) or state-equivalent credential, often required within 6 to 12 months of hire.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, active listening, basic computer literacy, and knowledge of local support networks.
