Respiratory Therapist (RRT), FT Days (NICU)

Overview The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple‑problem situations, mostly in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management and significant independent decision‑making. The RT II also provides patient and family education, coordinates activities, and participates in staff development. Responsibilities Complete patient care, documentation, and education Provide a team approach to service Promote a team spirit and positive work environment Provide a supportive environment for students and staff Perform patient assessment and therapy assessment Collaborate with healthcare team members in planning patient care Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care) Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis Educate patients and mentor/precept new employees, students, and peers Assist with invasive and non‑invasive procedures, Cardiac Service procedures, and Pulmonary Diagnostic Testing Promote current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging Promote high levels of patient safety (Medication Safety, NPSG, etc.) Promote performance improvement initiatives designed to promote quality care Promote evidence‑based practice Review revised and new DPPs required for all jobs Perform duties assigned by management Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct Qualifications Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with at least 20 quarter hours of science Associate’s Degree (A.S.) required Bachelor’s Degree preferred Minimum Experience 0–2 years clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care Minimum Skills Excellent communication and critical‑thinking skills Ability to establish and maintain relationships with physicians and other health‑care professionals Computer skills including familiarity with databases Good customer‑relations, assessment, and communication skills Licenses and Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapist Respiratory Care Professional required Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor and Provisional required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Instructor and Provisional required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Instructor and Provisional required Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) – Instructor and Provisional required Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Facility: Wellstar Kennestone Hospital #J-18808-Ljbffr
