Richmond, United States | Posted on 06/25/2026 Enterprise Data Steward |Onsite 2–3 days per week in Richmond Position Summary The Enterprise Data Steward is responsible for ensuring thequality, integrity, consistency, and appropriate use of enterprise data assets.This position partners with business and technical stakeholders across theorganization to define, document, and enforce data standards, policies, andgovernance practices that support reliable, trusted data. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of datamanagement fundamentals, brings a self-motivated and collaborative work ethic,and excels at building trusted relationships with stakeholders at every levelof the organization—including non-technical business users. Experience withCollibra or comparable enterprise data governance platforms is a strong asset. Key Responsibilities Serveas a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for enterprise datagovernance, data quality, and data management practices across assigned datadomains. Establish,document, and maintain data definitions, data dictionaries, lineage, andmetadata standards within the enterprise data catalog. Collaboratewith business and technical teams to identify, assess, and resolve data qualityissues; define and monitor data quality rules and metrics. Facilitatedata governance meetings, working groups, and cross-functional forums;communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Buildand maintain trusted relationships with business owners, data consumers, and ITteams to promote data literacy and governance adoption. Administerand maintain the enterprise data governance platform (Collibra), includingworkflows, policies, business glossary, and data classification frameworks. Supportdata stewardship activities including data access management, data issuetriage, and escalation processes. Partnerwith data architects, engineers, and analysts to ensure governance principlesare embedded in data pipeline and product design. Provideguidance and training to business stakeholders on data governance policies,standards, and tools. Contributeto the development and continuous improvement of the enterprise data governancestrategy and operating model. Required Qualifications Bachelor’sdegree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or a relatedfield (or equivalent experience). 5+years of hands-on experience in data management, data governance, data quality,or a related data discipline. Strongworking knowledge of data management fundamentals: data governance frameworks,metadata management, data quality management, master data management, and datalineage. Demonstratedability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage competingpriorities, and drive tasks to completion. Outstandinginterpersonal and communication skills; proven track record of building trustand credibility quickly with a diverse range of stakeholders. Abilityto facilitate workshops, working sessions, and governance forums withparticipants ranging from executives to front-line business users with notechnical background. Collaborativeteam player who is equally effective working autonomously or withincross-functional teams. Familiaritywith data governance concepts including data ownership, data classification,data lineage, and data lifecycle management. Preferred Qualifications Experiencewith Collibra Data Intelligence Platform, including configuration of workflows,business glossary, data catalog, and policy management. Collibracertification (Data Steward, Data Engineer, or equivalent) is a strong plus. Familiaritywith DAMA-DMBOK or other recognized data management frameworks. Experienceworking in public sector, regulated industries, or large enterpriseenvironments. Knowledgeof data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their governanceimplications. Experiencewith modern data platforms (cloud data warehouses, data lakes) and relatedmetadata tooling. Exposureto Agile delivery methodologies and collaborative tools (Jira, Confluence,SharePoint).
