Project Engineer

Brayman Construction Corporation is looking for a driven Project Engineer to join our growing team supporting construction operations in the Hinton, West Virginia area . Position Summary

The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to help coordinate and manage construction activities from project start through completion. This role involves a combination of project administration, estimating, scheduling, procurement, cost and production tracking, subcontractor and vendor coordination, quantity verification, change order support, and progress billing.

The successful candidate will help ensure projects remain organized, accurately documented, and aligned with established schedules, budgets, quality standards, and contract requirements.

Primary Responsibilities for Project Engineer :

• Perform quantity takeoffs and keep project files, records, and documentation accurate and up to date.
• Assist with preparing cost estimates, bids, proposals, and other project-related pricing information.
• Contact suppliers and vendors to obtain material pricing, availability, and quotations.
• Coordinate effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, quality control personnel, field crews, and company management.
• Assist with scheduling, planning, and execution of heavy civil and transportation projects.
• Support construction activities involving highways, bridges, roadway improvements, drainage systems, and utility installations.
• Track production, verify quantities, and assist with progress measurements and monthly billing.
• Help prepare and administer change orders and other contract-related documentation.
• Contribute to project resource planning, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
• Maintain well-organized records while handling multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines.
• Communicate project information clearly and work collaboratively with both office and field teams.
• Adapt to changing field conditions, project schedules, and construction requirements.

Qualifications for Project Engineer :

• Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering plans, construction drawings, specifications, and related technical documents.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is highly desirable.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and close attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Flexible and willing to adjust to evolving project needs and field conditions.
• Knowledge of transportation construction, highway work, and applicable DOT standards is preferred.
• Willingness to travel and/or relocate as required by project assignments.

Education & Professional Experience for Project Engineer :

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant construction experience may also be considered.

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
