We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our growing manufacturing team. This role is responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, production components, packaging, and indirect supplies while ensuring inventory levels support production schedules and customer demand.

The ideal candidate will build strong supplier relationships, manage purchase orders, coordinate domestic and international shipments, and work cross-functionally with Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Sales, and Accounting to keep operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase raw materials, production components, packaging materials, and indirect supplies
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders through an ERP system
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure on-time deliveries
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing when appropriate
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers
• Track shipments and proactively resolve delivery issues
• Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and vendor records
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages before they impact production
• Verify receiving documentation, invoices, and packing slips
• Support inventory accuracy and assist with cycle count investigations
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements throughout the supply chain

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with ERP or MRP systems (Sage 100 experience is a plus)
• Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and logistics processes
• Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments is preferred
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
