Job Description

Portsmouth School Department is seeking to hire a regular building substitute teacher at Melville Elementary School beginning Oct. 1, 2026 through the end of the 2026-2027 school year. RIDE Certification is not required for this position. Minimum requirements are: • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher, hold an associates' degree, or have completed a minimum of two years college as part of a four-year degree track in any field • Must complete a federal criminal background check • Must provide three letters of reference • Must attend a mandatory substitute meeting Thank you for your interest in the Portsmouth School Department • Please see additional requirements within this job posting. Job Requirements

• A current National background check is required in order to begin substitute teaching. You will be fingerprinted and a search of statewide criminal history will be initiated. Fingerprints will then be forwarded for a national criminal history check. If you are an active substitute in the PSD and have a BCI on file with us, you will not be required to have an additional BCI processed. Must complete virtual employee training modules Experience preferred but not required
• Bachelor degree preferred.
