Academic Navigator

Description We are currently looking for aFull Time Academic Navigatorto join our Childrens Village Academic Program Team team located at the Chickasaw Children's Village working9:00AM-6:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr. Summary Assists the Academic Manager in all areas of the Chickasaw Children’s Village (CCV) academic program. Serves as a liaison between CCV, public school systems, families, tribal education programs, higher education institutions, and community resources. Assists in coordination of academic services, student support systems, and educational planning while driving measurable improvements in student achievement, engagement, and post‑secondary readiness. Responsibilities Assists in managing the full enrollment process for all Chickasaw Children’s Village students Maintains confidential academic student records and student performance Provides academic support, including tutoring, mentoring, and individualized success plans Supports students on academic, personal, and social adjustments within the school environment Collaborates with the public school to ensure students are receiving appropriate support as required by a student's Individualize Educational Plan Supports all IEP meetings by attendance, maintaining required documentation and communicating information to the appropriate staff Coordinates and supports students in all post‑secondary planning Submits applications in a timely manner across multiple tribes for available assistance in meeting students’ needs Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with educators, school officials, counselors, and tribal organizations Assists with purchasing, distributing, and tracking inventory, including school supplies and library materials Assists the Academic Program Manager to ensure all program practices comply with federal, state, tribal, and educational regulations Engages in ongoing professional development and stays current on educational policies, laws, and best practices Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment Maintains and promotes professionalism Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area Performs all other duties as assigned Competencies Essential Ability to handle a high caseload Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment or situation Ability to recognize, interpret, and regulate your own emotions, and understand those of other people Ability to use a trauma-informed approach with individuals, which promotes environments of healing and recovery Demonstrates and prioritizes personal well-being and utilize available resources as needed to support others effectively Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and accountability in program coordination and student success outcomes Able to follow instructions, both written and oral Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all matters Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines In-depth knowledge of educational systems, student services, higher education systems, federal financial aid processes and intervention strategies Knowledge in essay writing, Geometry, Algebra 2, Biology and scholarship applications Must have empathetic understanding of common social problems (i.e., addictions, mental health problems, domestic violence, sexual assault, etc.) Knowledge and understanding of First American populations Ability to remain calm under stress Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation, and analytical skills Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management Skills Essential Basic Computer skills Intermediate skill using Microsoft Office products Demonstrates strong self-management skills, including maintaining a healthy work life balance to ensure quality customer service Experience Essential 1 year directly related experience Education Essential Bachelors Degree in directly related field Credentials Essential State Teacher Certification Pass general background check Standard Driver's License Nonessential CDL Class B with School Bus endorsement CDL License with Air Brake Endorsement Working Conditions Essential Works in an office setting May be required to assist individuals with unmanaged emotions Sitting up to 100% of shift Standing up to 25% of shift Walking up to 25% of shift Sometimes lift and or carry up to 25 lbs Requires light travel Pass pre-employment drug test Training *It is the responsibility of each employee to attend required training for their position or profession as determined by their line of support (LOS) or the leadership of the Chickasaw Nation.
