Responsibilities

• Lead Med Surg unit operations to meet daily patient care targets and staffing plans.

• Monitor unit metrics (AHT, length of stay, readmission rates) and adjust workflows.

• Ensure compliance with clinical policies, safety standards, and accreditation requirements.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary rounds to ensure timely patient progress and discharges.

• Mentor and develop nursing staff through coaching and performance feedback.

• Drive continuous improvement projects to optimize patient throughput and care quality.

• Communicate unit goals, performance results, and risk factors to leadership and stakeholders.

• Oversee admission, transfer, and discharge processes to optimize patient flow.

• Manage unit budgets, supply utilization, and cost-control initiatives.

• Develop and implement action plans to meet growth targets and expand service offerings.

• Foster a high-performance culture with clear accountability and merit-based recognition.

• Collaborate with external partners and teams to support scalable growth in the unit.

Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.

• New or current RN licensure with active state board registration.

• Minimum 2 years Med Surg or inpatient unit leadership experience.

• Excellent knowledge of clinical policies, safety standards, and accreditation requirements.

• Proven ability to manage staffing, scheduling, and budget within a Med Surg unit.

• Strong data literacy; ability to monitor AHT, LOS, readmission metrics and act on insights.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary rounds and discharge planning.

• Demonstrated mentoring and performance feedback coaching for nursing staff.

• Track record of leading continuous improvement projects and patient throughput optimization.

• Strong communication skills with ability to report unit goals and risks to leadership.
