Description: RN - Peds PACU position available. This unit has 20 bays and an average census of 30-40 patients per day. The primary patient population includes pediatric patients aged 0-17. Patients are primarily inpatient but also outpatient. This unit covers most surgical specialties except cardiac procedures. Patient ratios are RN: 1:1 or 1:2, depending on acuity. Candidates must be comfortable managing medications commonly seen in ICU, including heparin and insulin. There is limited use of BiPAP, which is primarily in a post-operative setting. Occasional care for adult patients may be necessary based on unit needs. Candidates should be self-motivated, resourceful, and team-oriented. The unit operates with an all-hands-on-deck mentality, as it is an open bay unit. Support is available within the department through transport staff and dedicated charge/management personnel who do not take patients. Anesthesia is available 24/7, and nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring. Technology and equipment used include EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, and patient monitors. Floating may occur occasionally for caring for adult patients in need. Scrubs will be provided for this position.
