Overview  

The Put Away / Stocking Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily put away and stocking operations within Cavender’s Wilmer distribution facility, ensuring inbound merchandise moves quickly and accurately from receiving into the correct pick and reserve locations. This role supports the Inbound Manager by leading the put away and stocking team, maintaining location accuracy and put away pace standards, and ensuring every unit is stocked complete, accurate, and ready to pick. The Put Away / Stocking Supervisor plays a key role in training and developing put away associates, enforcing location and put away accuracy standards, and ensuring strong alignment between receiving and put away so product never backs up on the dock. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Run the put away floor.  Supervise daily put away and stocking operations, keeping the team moving with purpose, accuracy, and urgency. 

• Be the leader your associates need.  Show up for your team every shift by training, coaching, and giving the kind of direct, honest feedback that helps people grow. 

• Keep product moving accurately.  Own the timely and accurate put away of received merchandise into the correct pick and reserve locations so picking never has to wait or wonder. 

• Hold the standard.  Make sure put away SOPs, location accuracy checks, and powered equipment (PIT) safety standards are followed on every shift, by every associate. 

• Organize the shift to win.  Manage scheduling, workload distribution, and shift coverage against the day's receiving volume and put away backlog so the team is always positioned to keep pace with inbound flow. 

• Trust but verify.  Validate location accuracy and put away quantities against system records, and catch discrepancies after they become picking or inventory problems. 

• Solve it on the floor.  When location errors, put away backlogs, or system discrepancies surface, own the resolution, investigate, correct, and follow through. 

• Own your space.  Keep staging lanes, pick and reserve locations, and put away equipment organized, clean, and ready to run. 

• Keep score.  Track productivity and performance metrics daily and give associates the real-time feedback they need to stay on pace and improve. 

• Connect put away to the broader operation.  Stay aligned with receiving and picking teams so product flows without gaps or delays. 

• Reinforce a culture of safety and compliance.  Support company policies and safety standards, especially powered equipment and location safety, with the same energy you bring to productivity — because protecting the team is part of the job. 

• Report with clarity.  Bring your manager a clear, honest picture of daily put away progress, backlog, issues, and performance to help leadership make good decisions fast. 

Qualifications and Requirements  

• 2+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment operations. 

• Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred. 

• Strong understanding of put away, location management, and warehouse processes. 

• Ability to lead teams, provide training, and manage performance in a fast-paced environment. 

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational needs. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse systems (WMS/OMS). 

• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. 

Preferred Skills  

• Experience in retail or e-commerce distribution environments. 

• Familiarity with location management, slotting, and directed put away systems. 

• Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in high-volume operations. 

• Experience training and onboarding new associates. 

• Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple operational teams.
