American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R) Texas Medical Board certification (MRT) American Heart Association (BLS and PALS)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Interventional Radiology experience preferred JOB DESCRIPTION The Interventional Radiology Technologist I position works as part of a procedural team to complete a wide variety of Interventional procedures, to include Body and Neuro Interventional procedures. This position provides direct assistance to physicians, sterilely prep/drape patients, scrub assist, and circulate during interventional procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Promotes a positive work environment. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team. Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement. Utilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to achieve mutual understanding. Proactively responds to patient needs. Optimizing protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique. Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level. Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies. Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects. Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate. Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Ensures their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments. Participates in department projects or shared governance activities. Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a technologist. WORK SCHEDULE: Must have availability Monday - Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. May be part of call rotation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Promotes a positive work environment. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team. Guides and mentors Interventional Radiology Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge, and abilities. Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement. Utilizes active communication and reports pertinent patient care information in a comprehensive manner. Proactive in responding to patient needs. Assists in the performance of Interventional procedures, using a wide variety of imaging equipment and specialty supplies Optimizes protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate. Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Assists with implementation and education of department based, safety initiatives and standards of practice. Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Ensure their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments. Leads departmental special projects, initiatives and/or shared governance activities. Seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development.
