Requirements Continued You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver’s license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver’s licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. The position to which you will be appointed is subject to a financial disclosure reporting requirement and you will be required to complete a new entrant Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) within 30 days of your appointment. Conditions of Employment Selectee must successfully complete within 1 year of hire, or have previously completed within the last 3 years, the Basic Law Enforcement for Land Management Agencies Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, GA or equivalent. If basic academy was completed more than 3 years previously, selectee must provide documentation of continuous 40 hour in-service completion. Maximum Entry Age: The maximum entry-age for this position shall not exceed age 37, unless you have sufficient prior Federal civilian law enforcement [or firefighter, if applicable] experience or you are a preference eligible veteran. If you are a preference eligible veteran, you may be eligible for this position after your 37th birthday. You must supply a copy of your Defense Department Form 214 (DD-214) along with Standard Form 15 (if applicable) and any associated documentation in accordance with the instructions in this vacancy announcement. Failure to provide this documentation with your application will result in the loss of eligibility to receive a waiver of the maximum entry age requirement. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/22/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Selective Factors Applicants must meet ALL of the following to qualify: This is a primary position covered by enhanced retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C. 8336 (c) (CSRS) and 5 U.S.C. 8412(d) (FERS) which stipulate mandatory retirement at age 57 after 20 years of service. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must not have reached their 37th birthday upon appointment to this position. Two exceptions are allowed: 1) an applicant has prior Federal service in a primary covered position sufficient to complete 20 years of service on or before the mandatory retirement age of 57; or 2) an applicant is a qualified veterans’ preference eligible, in which case the MEA is waived and their corresponding retirement age may be higher than 57 after completing 20 years of service.

GL-7 Applicants Must Possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL/GS-05 level, performing at least three of the following duties: Assisting senior officers in investigating criminal activity involving violence against a person, theft, destruction of property, or trespassing; Issuing citations and assisting in filing criminal complaints; Preparing documentation for court proceedings and/or providing testimony; Conducting investigations that require locating, securing, and protecting crime scenes; Gathering and/or seizing evidence. You must include hours per week worked. EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full academic year of graduate-level education toward a master’s degree (or possess an equivalent graduate degree or superior academic achievement). This education demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. One full year of graduate-level education is equivalent to 18 semester hours. You must include transcripts. Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. Only graduate education can be credited towards the education requirement. You must include transcripts. GL-09 Applicants Must Possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL/GS-07 level, performing at least four of the following duties: Investigating criminal activity involving violence against a person, theft, destruction of property, or trespassing; Issuing citations and assisting in filing criminal complaints; Preparing documentation for court proceedings and/or providing testimony; Conducting investigations that involve locating, securing, and protecting crime scenes; Gathering and/or seizing evidence. You must include hours per week worked. EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master’s degree (or an equivalent graduate degree), or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. This education demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. You must include transcripts. Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree, in excess of 18 semester hours, and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then, take the number of months of experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. GS-11 Applicants Must Possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL/GS-09 level, performing at least five of the following duties: Investigating criminal activity involving violence against a person, theft, destruction of property, or trespassing; Preparing investigation reports by documenting findings and obtaining witness statements; Issuing citations and assisting in filing criminal complaints; Preparing documentation for court proceedings and/or providing testimony; Conducting investigations that involve locating, securing, and protecting crime scenes; Preparing law enforcement work plans that incorporate resource management objectives and concerns. You must include hours per week worked. EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. This education demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. You must include transcripts. Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree, in excess of 36 semester hours, and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then, take the number of months of experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together.
