Position Overview & Key Responsibilities

TPS staff members are passionate, resilient, and deeply committed to the personal and academic development of young people. This role focuses on academic instruction, behavioral support, and targeted intervention—with a strong emphasis on supporting Spanish speaking scholars.

Instruction & Data-Driven Support

• Targeted Intervention: Use academic and social-emotional data to identify, group, and instruct scholars who need additional supports.
• Effective Pedagogy: Plan, pace, differentiate, and deliver engaging lesson plans using culturally responsive pedagogy and integrated technology.
• Progress Tracking: Establish clear learning objectives, regularly assess scholar accomplishments, maintain accurate records, and communicate progress to families and colleagues.

Specialized Scholar Advocacy (ML & Exceptional Learners)

• Language Support: Evaluate language needs, administer language screeners, and implement targeted strategies to increase English proficiency for bilingual scholars.
• Collaborative Care: Work alongside classroom teachers, the Director of Exceptional Learners, and the school psychologist to facilitate special education eligibility and share best practices.

Classroom Culture & Safety

• Behavior Management: Maintain impeccable and positive classroom management by establishing clear rules, routines, and disciplinary systems aligned with school policies.
• Holistic Growth: Cultivate the social, emotional, logical, and creative growth of all scholars while ensuring their physical safety through appropriate supervision.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience working with a diverse body of scholars and staff in an urban school setting.
• Core Competencies: Strong work ethic, adaptability, excellent communication/listening skills, and robust organizational and decision-making abilities.
• Alignment: Deep passion for social justice, equity, and strict alignment with the vision, mission, and goals of TPS.
• Commitment: Punctuality, adherence to deadlines, and being fully present and engaged during the entire school day.

Physical & Schedule Requirements

• Ability to stand for 32 of the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work in an environment with an above-average noise level.
• Flexibility to work some nights and weekends, as required.
