Details 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio Patient population includes respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) 36 or 48 hour options available 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed Requirements Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date) BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required Epic charting experience required BSN preferred Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Previous charge experience preferred Skills in respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration Additional Information Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit, managing complex diagnoses including renal failure and cardiac dysrhythmias Complete specialty-specific modules during orientation, recorded in Workday, with up to 16 non-billable hours allowed Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, all requested time off must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance Any vacation planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed to allow for an appropriate start date Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or internal/external travelers) must disclose prior employment; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for former staff or internal travelers External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached First-time travelers are not eligible for this position American Traveler Job ID P-746960.
