General Summary

Work is performed under limited supervision of the Building Maintenance Supervisor. As of March 28, 2024, this position is part of the Labor and Trades bargaining unit, as defined by the City's Collective Bargaining Ordinance (Ordinance No. 22-128). in accordance with the Labor and Trades Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) effective July 1, 2025. The pay rate cited below will apply to individuals hired into this position on or after July 1, 2025. Future wage adjustments are subject to terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement between the City and the exclusive bargaining representative. - Trade school or technical training in HVAC or Electrical Systems AND six (6) months of experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/electrical equipment.
- High school diploma or GED AND two (2) years of experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/electrical equipment.
- Four (4) years of experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/electrical equipment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record in accordance with City criteria.
- Required to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, pre-employment physical, and pre-employment drug test.
- Journeyman license in HVAC or Electrical.

Pension:

- A Defined Contribution 401a plan in which fixed contributions are paid into an individual's account by the employer, the contributions are invested, returns (positive or negative) are credited to the account, and the account balance is used to provide retirement benefits.
