Senior Technical Product Manager

ADP is hiring a Senior Technical Product Manager.

ADP is building a next-generation AI-native HCM platform for small businesses. We are rethinking what payroll, HR, and compliance software looks like when it is designed from the ground up with Generative AI technology at the center.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who is energized by building things, obsessed with customers, and already figured out how to get the most out of GenAI tools with your work, your personal and side projects, even just in the way you think about problems. You do not wait to be taught or told to adopt new products and technology. You pick it up, break it, learn from it, and figure out how to get the most out of it before anyone asks you to.

In this role, you’ll work alongside a talented team of engineers, designers, and researchers to ship HCM capabilities that improve the everyday lives of small business owners. While you’re still earlyish in your career, you already have proof points that boost your credibility: things you shipped, problems you diagnosed, unique insights about the market or the customer that led to specific product pivots or new direction. Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

Scrums and keeping momentum.

You will work with engineering, design, and research teams daily to clarify priorities, unblock work, and keep things moving. You are a reliable, energizing presence, contributing to new customer insights with UXR while debating pros and cons of an architectural decision with the engineering team.

Research and requirements.

You use client data, analytics, and your own curiosity to understand what users actually need. You write sharp requirements, break down problems into testable increments, and do not wait for perfect information to form a point of view.

Relationships.

You work positively and effectively with engineering, design, and business teams. You share your views, respectfully challenge decisions, and commit fully once a direction is set.

Measurement.

You instrument the product to ensure you can monitor performance, pull metrics and measure success – or lack of – to understand how to improve the product to reach desired business outcomes. You are comfortable with analytics tools and know how to ask good questions of data.

Client obsession.

You stay close to real users. You watch session recordings, read support tickets, join client calls, and ask questions that go beyond the analytics data. You form opinions about what clients actually need, then you validate those opinions with research on your own or with UXR, and steer the roadmap as needed to get to the right outcomes.

Variety of work.

There is no typical day. You might be reviewing (or creating) an AI-powered prototype in the morning, writing a spec in the afternoon, and checking recent survey results before logging off. You do whatever advances the product.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

• You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Technical, analytical, or design background a plus.

• You have 3+ years of firsthand experience defining and delivering digital products with agile teams, from discovery through launch.

• You have successfully, productively integrated GenAI / LLM tooling into your professional workflows and are on top of the latest developments in the space.

• You understand how large language models and AI-powered automation work well enough to have an informed opinion on when to use them and when not to. You can articulate tradeoffs, not just possibilities.

• You can engage and collaborate on technical matters with engineers, whether debating the merits of an A vs B approach to an API requirement or parsing an architecture diagram, and you bring that same depth to how you think about AI/LLM system behaviors.

• You use data and client feedback to prioritize. You can pull a report, interpret it, and act on it without being hand-held.

• You are an effective communicator. You can write a clear business case, run a productive meeting, and explain a technical constraint to a non-technical stakeholder.

• You work well in (or even embrace) ambiguity. You make progress without waiting for complete information, and you course-correct quickly when new evidence arrives.

• You are naturally optimistic and energizing to work with. You think of creative ways to solve problems and you bring that energy to your team every day.

• You can operate independently in tools like Jira, Confluence, or equivalent for planning, documentation, and tracking.

• Bonus for hands-on experience in regulated domains like payroll, tax, HR, fintech, healthcare, where compliance, accuracy, and user trust are table stakes.

Bonus points if you also...

• Have built and shipped something on your own: an app, a tool, a side project, especially using AI-assisted development. We want to hear about it.

• Have used LLM APIs, done prompt engineering, set up agentic work spaces or directories in a personal or professional project, not just used AI chatbots vanilla out of the box.

• Have experience with mobile or web development, even if you are not a full-time engineer. Understanding how things get built makes you a better PM.

• Are an early adopter of the latest technology trends, a follower of influential technology personalities on social media, a reader of blogs or listener of technology podcasts.

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is USD $74,800.00 - USD $183,900.00 / Year*

*Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage or minimum exempt salary requirement under federal, state and local laws.
