The Senior Legal Counsel advises company executives, negotiates complex commercial contracts, manages litigation, oversees compliance and regulatory matters, supports strategic transactions and projects, and otherwise supports the legal team and BJ's business objectives.Responsibilities and Key AccountabilitiesRespond promptly to legal requests from business units across the company, including merchandising, IT, finance, marketing, analytics, operations, B2B, fuel, and transportationSupport executive leadership with sound, commercially minded adviceSupport strategic transactional mattersNegotiate agreements consistent with company practices and risk toleranceManage litigationHelp create and continuously improve standard form agreements and legal processesAdvise on regulatory compliance including privacy, payments, and product-specific regulationsSupervise and manage outside counselReport to the Vice President, Associate General CounselQualificationsJ.D. from top-tier law schoolMinimum 8 years of experience in contract negotiation and complex transactionsAmLaw 100 experience preferred; 6+ years in-house experience strongly preferredAdmitted to MA bar association, or eligible to practice pursuant to MA SJC Rule 4:02 (9)Excellent commercial judgment and communication skillsOutstanding work ethicTeam-first ethosThis is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $197,500.00 - $242,500.00.
