Journeyman Engineer

The Journeyman Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of complex building systems. This position requires a highly skilled and versatile professional with deep expertise in automated building controls and the ability to perform a broad range of technical, mechanical, and trade-related tasks. Ideal candidates thrive in a hands-on environment, enjoy problem-solving, and can adapt to diverse maintenance and engineering challenges across a facility.

Key Responsibilities: A Journeyman Engineer must possess a high degree of knowledge of automated building control systems and may also perform a wide variety of work requiring high skill levels and abilities, including but not limited to:

• Electricity
• Electronics
• Sheet metal work
• Welding
• Mechanics
• Machine shop work
• Hydraulics
• Plumbing
• Painting
• Ventilation work
• Carpentry
• Plastering
• Concrete and masonry work
• Ceiling installation
• Floor installation
• Motors

Required qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Must have successfully completed extensive specialized training courses --or-- Demonstrated ability and experience may be accepted in lieu of education
• Upon hire: National Boiler Operator Grade I License - State County City Trade License Authority --or-- National Boiler Operator Grade II License - State County City Trade License Authority --or-- National Boiler Operator Grade III License - State County City Trade License Authority
• 4 years of building control systems inspection, testing, repair and maintenance in a hospital environment

Preferred qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Building Control Technology, HVAC, or similar field
