Job Description Summary
This adjunct instructor position is in the local high schools' Career and College Promise Program. Classes are taught face-to-face on the campus of the assigned high school. Classes are taught Monday - Friday each week.
The instructor will provide engaging, student-centered instruction to high school students enrolled in college-level Criminal Justice Technology courses while supporting student success, academic integrity, and career exploration in the criminal justice field.
Duties
Only Face-to-Face teaching!!
1. Teach Criminal Justice Technology courses in the high school setting;
2. Develop course syllabus, teaching materials, activities, and handouts for each section/course taught;
3. Prepare and deliver lectures and facilitate classroom discussions;
4. Supervise and mentor high school students in accordance with college and high school policies;
5. Research and maintain current knowledge in criminal justice through professional development activities;
6. Utilize technology and innovative instructional techniques to enhance student learning;
7. Abide by all policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College, the Emergency Services Division, and the Department;
8. Abide by all rules, regulations and policies of the assigned high school;
9. Participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities to improve instructional quality;
10. Maintain accurate student records;
11. Ensure that all college reports and requested information are submitted promptly and accurately to the Department Chair;
12. Communicate effectively with college personnel, high school administrators, counselors, and students; 13. Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment; 14. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean. Minimum Requirements
1. Master's degree in Criminal Justice or related discipline with 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice.
2. One year or more of teaching instructional or training programs.
3. Five or more years of work experience in the Criminal Justice Field.
4. Ability to work effectively with high school students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. 5. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Criminal Justice or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with Master's Degree in related field;
2. Five to Ten (or more) years of work experience in the Criminal Justice field.
3. One year or more of teaching or training experience at a community college, high school, or within work-based training programs.
4. Experience using college information databases, such as Moodle and WebAdvisor.
5. Experience working with Career and College Promise (CCP) students or dual enrollment programs; 6. Prior teaching experience in secondary or post-secondary educational settings preferred.
