Job Description The Technician I will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical maintenance of the baggage handling system. The required maintenance will follow processes and procedures established for the overall system maintenance and requests for service which includes both electrical or mechanical work. This position will perform work under supervision of the Shift Supervisor. This role will support the BEUMER Individual Carrier System (ICS) at Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR). Qualifications Electrical or Mechanical Degree, Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience 0–2 years of hands‑on experience in automated material handling systems, preferably within airport or logistics environments. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain airside security clearance. Deep understanding of mechatronic systems, including sensors, actuators, motors, and controls. Proficiency in BEUMER SAC systems, PLC programming (Siemens preferred), and fault diagnostics. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, including Profinet, CANbus, and other Fieldbus systems. Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and software documentation. Skilled in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and software interfaces for system analysis. Work Environment Operates in a fast‑paced airport setting with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and variable temperatures. Requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating shift schedule. Frequent walking, climbing, bending, heavy lifting and standing across large terminal and baggage areas.
