Minimum of 2‑year degree, professional certificate, or equivalent apprenticeship experience in veterinary technology. Preferred Qualifications Active Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Georgia. Experience in a general veterinary practice. Position Summary The Licensed Veterinary Technician will support the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Pet Health Center by performing a wide range of clinical, diagnostic, and administrative duties, collaborating with senior veterinarians, veterinary students, and staff to deliver quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Monitor receiving schedule, technician appointments, and patient records. Input charges, manage specimen collection, process prescription refills, and handle sedating and recovery of patients. Field consults and calls for clinicians; assist junior staff with physicals, treatments, phlebotomy, and bandaging. Support patient receiving and diagnostic imaging, including timely callbacks. Provide surgical assistance as scrub nurse and assist in patient prep for procedures. Obtain radiographic images and coordinate transports between the Pet Health Center and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the ward following infectious disease protocols. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies Proficiency in handling animals safely and calmly. Ability to perform phlebotomy and small animal procedures. Basic calculation skills for medication doses and weight conversions. Understanding of animal anatomy. Competence with medical/surgical equipment maintenance and cleaning. Capability to work in high‑noise, fluid‑intensive environments and manage stress effectively. Physical Demands Lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Stand, sit, stoop, and walk intermittently on hard floors. Perform manual tasks with small, delicate tools or large heavy objects. Wear protective gear (mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.). Maintain extended periods with arms extended and operate in environments with high levels of animal sounds and bodily fluids. Duties / Responsibilities (by Category) Clinical: Dental procedures, otic lavage, wound clipping, bandaging, sedate, suture, catheterization, venipuncture, cystocentesis, injections, CPR, drug dosage calculations. Teaching: Assist and instruct veterinary students and new staff on exams, anesthesia protocols, dentistry, radiology, specimen work. Lab Work: Enter lab results, pull up client records in VetView, and enter procedure and consultation fees. Miscellaneous: Scrub during surgeries, monitor patients under anesthesia, support sterile environments.
