Overview

As a Surgical Technologist in this role, you will:

• Function as the scrub assistant to surgeons during operative and invasive procedures
• Prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
• Demonstrate mastery of aseptic technique and perioperative safety
• Facilitate smooth case flow, room readiness, and accurate instrument setup
• Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs with precision and efficiency
• Collaborate closely with RNs, anesthesia teams, physicians, and perioperative leadership
• Serve as a role model and resource for less experienced staff
• Support patient safety and experience throughout all phases of care

Responsibilities

You will contribute by:

• Acting as first scrub in your assigned specialty areas with confidence and independence
• Following preference cards, protocols, and safety guidelines to prepare the OR for each case
• Maintaining accurate instrument counts and aseptic standards
• Ensuring equipment readiness and resolving issues before procedures begin
• Supporting department goals around quality, efficiency, and patient experience
• Assisting with training, preceptorship, and team development
• Participating in continuing education to keep your knowledge current
• Upholding safety standards for patients, staff, and visitors

This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to anticipate needs, and the ability to stay calm and adaptable in a high-acuity environment.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Licensure/Certification

• BLS certification required
• CST certification preferred (NCCT or NBSTSA), grandfathered technologists considered

Experience

• New graduates considered
• Surg Tech I: 1 year
• Surg Tech II: 24 years
• Surg Tech III: 5+ years
• Hospital OR experience preferred, orthopedic OR experience strongly preferred
