BUYER III

The Buyer III qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Being a Buyer III typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information.

• Streamline processes/procedures. Update/Create processes for continuous improvement of the purchasing department.
• Forecast what is due in material areas. Will need to be involved at the very beginning of project work.
• Identify the problems and help with finding possible solutions.
• Provide leadership and maintain a high level of performance in carrying out the goals of the department and the company.
• Assist in training and development of the purchasing team to ensure the team is motivated, engaged in training and professional development.
• Develop a training program for all purchasing team members with career paths to next steps in their career path.
• Develop KPIs (key performance indicators) and other reports to measure the purchasing team's successes (and failures) for continuous improvement.
