The Student Council Advisor at Penn's Grove Middle School plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting student leaders in their efforts to foster a positive school environment. This position involves mentoring students, facilitating meetings, and encouraging active participation in school activities. The advisor will work collaboratively with school administration, teachers, and parents to promote student voice and leadership opportunities. This is a.5 prorated share of the total salary.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor and guide Student Council members in their leadership roles and responsibilities.
• Facilitate regular meetings, ensuring that all members have the opportunity to contribute and lead discussions.
• Assist in the planning and execution of school events, fundraisers, and community service projects.
• Act as a liaison between the Student Council and school administration, communicating student ideas and concerns.
• Encourage student participation in decision-making processes and promote a culture of respect and inclusivity.
• Provide support and resources for student-led initiatives and projects.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of Student Council activities and provide feedback for improvement.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate Student Council initiatives into the broader school curriculum and activities.
• Maintain accurate records of meetings, activities, and student participation.
• Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on effective leadership practices.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with middle school students, preferably in an advisory or leadership role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and inclusive environment.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Passion for student leadership and commitment to empowering young people.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends for events as needed.
• Knowledge of school policies and procedures related to student governance and engagement.
• First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
