Compensation New hires for this position typically start between $30.33 and $37.91 hourly, depending on factors such as work location, experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market conditions. While the full pay range is provided to support pay transparency, individual compensation will vary within the range based on these factors. What you’ll do The Re‑Entry Career Specialist supports individuals returning to the community after incarceration by providing comprehensive employment services. This role assesses client needs, develops individualized career plans, and connects clients with employment and training opportunities. The specialist collaborates with employers, community partners, and correctional agencies to reduce barriers to employment and promote successful reintegration. The goal of the role is to help clients achieve long‑term stability through sustainable employment and career growth. This position will be providing direct client services in the areas of soft skills training, employment counseling, client needs assessment, vocational assessment, and employment preparation. Primary/essential duties and responsibilities are but not limited to: Conduct resident readiness orientations that assist residents in identifying vocational aptitudes, and develop career plans for each new client. Facilitate curriculum in a classroom setting in a manner that fosters growth and learning and engages participants for the purpose of self‑awareness, job readiness, and career progression. Assist clients with long‑term employment goals, recording their work history, strengths, personal culture, justice involvement, and other factors that relate to current vocational goals. Facilitate regular groups on financial education and budgeting practices. Monitor local area employment trends and workforce development reports. Develop a “Second Chance” employer database. Facilitate transportation for residents to outside activities in accordance with program policies and contract stipulations. Attend all trainings professional development opportunities as directed. Participate in and host community, hiring, and outreach events to strengthen program visibility and client access to resources. Disseminate job openings and pro‑social opportunities to residents to support engagement and reentry success. Evaluate program for effectiveness through formative and informative assessments. Assess, design, develop, implement and evaluate new and current programs including the use of best, promising and evidence‑based practices. Maintain up‑to‑date resident employment tracking database. Complete employer notification prior to residents starting work. Complete monthly employer check‑ins on resident employment progress. What you’ll bring (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience) Experience in case management, corrections, behavioral health, or related human services fields. Ability to work effectively with adults impacted by incarceration, mental health conditions, and/or substance use. Must be able to pass and maintain security clearances as required by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP). Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in documentation, data entry, and maintaining case files. Ability to build rapport with diverse clients and community partners. High School Diploma/GED. Preferably you’ll bring Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Services, Education, Criminal Justice, or related field. Two years of experience working with formerly incarcerated client population and/or persons who formerly received mental health and/or substance abuse treatment. Knowledge of job analysis, local job market, assessment tools, social service organizations, and job‑seeking skills.
