Associate Attorney

$85k - $100k

Charles V. Hardenbergh, PC

Job Description

Job Description

We Are Looking for a Winner.

Associate Attorney · Criminal & Traffic Defense

We do not need someone to fill a seat. We need someone who has stood on the other side of the courtroom, knows how the game is played, and is ready to use that knowledge to fight — and win — for clients.

The Opportunity

Charles V. Hardenbergh, PC, is a well-established and growing criminal and traffic defense firm with offices in Lexington and Petersburg, Virginia. We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Lexington team — someone with fire in their belly, a proven track record, and the kind of work ethic that does not need to be managed.

This is not a passive position. Clients come to us when the stakes are high, and we expect our attorneys to show up with the preparation, the presence, and the drive to deliver results.

We are specifically seeking candidates with former prosecutorial experience. If you have sat at that table, you already know what we are up against. Now come help us beat it.

What We Offer

  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience — we reward talent and results. This ad lists a compensation range of $85,000 - $100,000. If you come to the table with more experience, we'll pay you more. Simple as that.
  • Company Vehicle: A car is provided — because your time matters.
  • Established Practice: Join a firm with a strong reputation, loyal client base, and real infrastructure.
  • Location: Lexington, Virginia — a community you can be proud to serve, with the resources to do it right.
Compensation:

$85,000 - $100,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

  • Carry your own caseload — criminal and traffic, intake through trial.
  • Own case strategy from day one.
  • Draft and argue motions that win.
  • Negotiate hard with the Commonwealth's Attorneys.
  • Dig into the evidence and build the defense.
  • Show up prepared in every courtroom, every jurisdiction.
  • Keep clients informed and cases moving.
  • Hit every deadline and every docket.
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our team and tech.
  • Protect the firm's name with results.
Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For

  • Active member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a licensed attorney.
  • Prior prosecutorial experience — this is not negotiable.
  • Proven courtroom presence and the confidence to match it.
  • A positive attitude that elevates the team around you.
  • An uncompromising work ethic and a genuine drive to win.
  • Experience in criminal defense, traffic law, or related areas is a plus.
About Company

Charles V. Hardenbergh, PC, is a powerhouse law firm laser-focused on criminal traffic defense. With a reputation for being experienced, professional, and results-driven, our team is built for one thing: winning.

Founded by seasoned attorney Charles V. Hardenbergh, our firm has earned the trust of clients across Virginia by delivering aggressive, strategic representation in high-stakes traffic and criminal cases—including reckless driving, DUI, driving on a suspended license, and other serious offenses.

We don’t back down, we don’t cut corners, and we don’t make excuses. At Charles V. Hardenbergh, PC, we fight smart, we fight hard, and we fight to win—because your license, your record, and your freedom are too important for anything less.
