Staffing Coordinator - Part Time, Evenings/Mid (Culver City) -10454

Position Summary The Staffing Coordinator ensures appropriate day to day staffing of all nursing departments. Assists Nursing Leadership with the maintenance of contract labor HR files, schedules, sick call monitoring, contract labor utilization and staffing changes. Coordinates and performs a broad range of clerical support functions in the nursing unit. Specific duties include performing reception functions, ad hoc projects, inventory and ordering of unit supplies, collecting and compiling patient data, and assembling and organizing medical records. Coordinates and assists with patient access, nursing, and case management for patient admission and discharge process. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Understanding of basic medical terminology Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office Products Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) Preferred Qualifications Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families One (1) year experience or staffing/scheduling experience in a healthcare facility Physical Requirements These are requirements normally expected to perform regular job duties. ALLOCATION OF STAFFING RESOURCES: Supports patient care units by receiving staffing requests and allocating available resources within the Department of Nursing on a shift-by-shift basis. Allocates available staffing resources based on identified patient care needs and recommended staffing with unit staffing resources and requests. Collaborates with Administrative House Supervisors/Unit Leaders to meet staffing needs. Analyzes staffing patterns and trends to determine when staffing needs are balanced. Coordinates and assists with Patient Access, Nursing, and Case Management during patient admission and discharge process. HUMAN RESOURCE COORDINATION: Assists Nursing Leadership with the maintenance of schedules, sick call monitoring, contract labor utilization and staffing changes. Validates and ensures accuracy of invoices for contract services. Maintains contract labor Human Resources files. COMMUNICATION: Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making. CLERICAL SUPPORT: Accurately prepares correspondence, documents, forms, reports and ad hoc projects in a timely manner. Establishes and maintains effective filing systems, provides excellent departmental telephone and reception coverage, and completes additional clerical duties as assigned. Ensures HIPAA compliance. EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: Effectively uses all applicable computer and office systems/procedures to coordinate documentation, data, and information for the shift to ensure timely communication and smooth operations. Ensures appropriate inventory of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. Ensures the work area is clean, clutter free, and organized.
