Job Description Child Psychiatrist Department of Pediatrics We are seeking a full-time Pediatric Psychiatrist (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist) to join our growing Division of Child Psychiatry at The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Our psychiatrists deliver compassionate, evidence-based, family-centered psychiatric care across inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, and emergency settings - serving one of New Jersey's most diverse and underserved pediatric populations. Opportunity Highlights • Scope of Practice: Full spectrum of child and adolescent psychiatric conditions from early childhood through young adulthood, including mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, psychosis, trauma, eating disorders, and substance use • Practice Settings: Inpatient consultation-liaison, outpatient psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, and emergency psychiatric evaluations • Autism-Affirming Environment: Practice within a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) - the only children's hospital in the region with full staff training in autism-informed, neurodiversity-affirming care • Collaborative Care: Multidisciplinary partnership with Adolescent Medicine, Developmental Pediatrics, Pediatric Neurology, Social Work, Child Life, and the Regional Child Protection Center • Academic Affiliation: Major clinical affiliate of Rutgers Health with opportunities to teach residents and medical students • Candidates: Welcoming new graduates and experienced psychiatrists • Supportive Environment: Transparent leadership and administration fostering open communication and the open exchange of ideas Psychiatric Services • Consultation-Liaison: Inpatient consultation and liaison services for children with co-occurring psychiatric needs, acute behavioral crises, or psychological distress related to illness and hospitalization • Emergency Psychiatry: Emergency psychiatric evaluations for patients in acute crisis, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, psychosis, and severe behavioral disturbances - with crisis assessment, stabilization, and care coordination • Outpatient Psychiatry: Ongoing diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and coordination with therapists, schools, and community providers • Adolescent Psychiatry: Specialized care for adolescents in collaboration with Adolescent Medicine, addressing mood, eating disorders, substance use, gender identity support, and psychosocial development Conditions Evaluated & Treated • ADHD, anxiety disorders (GAD, social anxiety, OCD, PTSD), and depressive and bipolar spectrum disorders • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - behavioral and psychiatric co-management • Psychotic disorders including early-onset schizophrenia • Eating disorders including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa • Trauma and trauma-related disorders; substance use disorders in adolescents Disruptive behavior disorders, somatic symptom, and functional neurological disorders Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary with up to 44 days PTO • 401(k) with 5% match and 457(b) plans • $3,000 CME allowance and full malpractice coverage with tail • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and prescription coverage • Federal Student Loan Forgiveness eligibility (non-profit system) • Tuition reimbursement, licensing renewal fees, and medical staff dues covered • Wellness programs, family caregiving support, and child backup care • Life and AD&D insurance About The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's • State-designated acute care children's hospital serving one of NJ's most diverse and underserved communities; part of one of NJ's busiest health systems • Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) - reflecting a system-wide commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, inclusive pediatric care • Magnet® Designated with Distinction℠ for Nursing Excellence 7 consecutive times • Major clinical affiliate of Rutgers Health with a freestanding pediatric residency program (24 residents) • Regional Centers of Excellence: Inherited Endocrine Disorders, Craniofacial, Metabolic, Child Protection • New Brunswick, NJ - 45 min to NYC, 45 min to the beach, 1 hour to Philadelphia Requirements: • MD or DO licensure in the State of New Jersey (or eligible) • Board certification or eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry • Must qualify for Saint Peter's University Hospital Liability insurance Full-time compensation at Saint Peter's Healthcare System ranges from 175,000.00 - 750,000.00 USD, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, years of experience, academic and administrative appointment, and pre-established metrics on productivity/patient engagement/quality.
