What You'll Do

• Serve as a technical leader on fire protection design, guiding projects from concept through completion.
• Manage small teams across multiple projects, keeping deliverables, deadlines, and budgets on track.
• Determine design criteria for a variety of design/build and plan/spec projects.
• Design and hydraulically calculate complete sprinkler and standpipe systems using AutoSPRINK.
• Coordinate fire protection design with other building trades for seamless project execution.
• Review, comment on, and approve fire protection plans and calculations prepared by designers.
• Partner closely with project managers and internal teams to ensure client and company specifications are met.
• Seal and sign fire protection plans and calculations for self-designed and reviewed projects.

What You Bring

• Experience developing building code concepts and equivalencies, plus conducting plan reviews and field inspections.
• The ability to present clear, technically sound fire protection engineering strategies with confidence.
• A track record of building strong working relationships across departments, trades, and clients.
• Deep working knowledge of NFPA standards and codes, government fire safety standards, and FM Global Datasheets.
• Proficiency in AutoSPRINK, Navisworks, Revizto, and Microsoft Office.
• Comfort performing hydraulic calculations and coordinating within 3D BIM environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant design certifications (Fire Protection PE license or NICET Certification).
• An NCEES record, with willingness to apply for additional state licenses.
• 5+ years of fire sprinkler design experience.
• A valid driver's license, with the ability to maintain it.

Good to Know

• Some overnight travel is required.
• Choose your work style: onsite at our Mt. Morris, MI headquarters five days a week, or fully remote.
