Position: Restaurant Assistant Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Status: Full-Time

ROLE SUMMARY

The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day operations during assigned shifts, ensuring that service, food quality, and hospitality standards are executed at a high level.

This role is a hands-on leader who works alongside the team to deliver a great guest experience while maintaining efficient operations. The Assistant Manager sets the tone on the floor, supports the staff, and ensures accountability in real time. They are responsible for executing systems, solving problems as they arise, and keeping the shift running smoothly from start to finish.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations & Guest Experience

• Lead and manage the restaurant during assigned shifts (FOH + BOH support)
• Ensure timely food execution, quality control, and proper presentation
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and brand standards throughout the shift
• Actively engage with guests to ensure satisfaction and build relationships
• Handle guest concerns and complaints promptly and professionally; trained in de-escalation
• Support team during peak periods (running food, bussing, expediting, etc.)

Team Leadership & Execution

• Supervise and support servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff during shifts
• Set clear expectations and hold team accountable to service and performance standards
• Provide real-time coaching and feedback on the floor
• Assist with training and onboarding of new team members
• Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented culture

Shift Execution & Controls

• Execute opening, shift change, and closing procedures accurately
• Manage floor flow, table turns, and pacing of service
• Ensure proper cash handling, checkouts, and shift reports
• Monitor labor during shifts and make adjustments as needed (cuts, breaks, positioning)
• Maintain minimal loss of draft beer and liquor through proper pours and oversight

Systems & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and alcohol service standards
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and service standards
• Maintain a clean and inspection-ready environment at all times
• Communicate effectively with the GM and other managers regarding shift performance, issues, and opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-4+ years of restaurant experience; leadership or key-holder experience preferred
• Strong understanding of FOH and BOH operations
• Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays
• ServSafe Certification (or demonstrates ability to obtain)
• Foundational knowledge of beer, food, and spirits
• Integrity, accountability, and a team-first mindset
