Job Title: Medical Assistant - Cardiology Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift and No Weekends Work Location: St. Clair Shores, Michigan Medical Assistant (MA) Full-Time | St. Clair Shores, MI Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) provides both clinical and administrative support to physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced cardiology practice. This role involves direct patient care, assisting with examinations and procedures, obtaining patient information, performing diagnostic testing, and supporting daily office operations. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care. Clinical Duties Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and respiration. Review and update patient medical, surgical, social, and medication histories. Document patient allergies and contraindications. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Perform and document EKGs. Assist physicians during examinations and office procedures. Process prescription refill requests according to established protocols. Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked exam rooms. Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations. Administer medications as directed and permitted by certification and state regulations. Administrative Duties Support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, pharmacies, and team members. Monitor and maintain clinical supply inventory. Participate in department meetings and training programs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume healthcare environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or equivalent certification). Minimum one year of Medical Assistant experience in a physician office or specialty practice. Experience performing EKGs. Experience with Epic or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, reach, and stoop.. Manual dexterity necessary to perform clinical duties and operate medical equipment.
