Psychiatrist Position at University of Florida

The Student Health Care Center at the University of Florida is seeking a psychiatrist to join the Student Health psychiatry team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor faculty position. The role involves providing comprehensive psychiatric care to UF students facing diverse mental health challenges, including general mental health disorders, trauma, eating disorders, and substance abuse disorders. Additionally, the role includes maintaining clinical records and participating in after-hours psychiatric emergency services serving the UF student community.

Essential functions of the position include:

• Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment & Consultation Services: Provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication evaluation, treatment, follow-up care, and crisis intervention/emergency services for students with general mental health issues as well as those with trauma, eating disorders, alcohol/substance abuse issues.
• Provides psychiatric consultation services, as requested, to Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) therapy staff, Student Health Care Center (SHCC) medical providers, student groups, and faculty and staff within the UF community.
• Documentation: Maintains clinical records on findings and treatments following established charting guidelines.
• Emergency/Urgency Duties: Provides regular back-up and after-hours psychiatric emergency/urgent duties with other Student Health Psychiatry (SHP) staff.
• Educational Activities: Opportunities to teach residents and medical students on elective rotations during patient care activities at the Student Health Care Center. This position will also participate in educational conferences, seminars, and lectures and share in faculty duties as assigned.

Medical services offered at the SHCC include primary care, sports medicine, urgent care, gynecology, psychiatry, allergy/immunization clinic, and travel medicine. Radiology, pharmacy, lab, and physical therapy are also on-site.

Expected Salary: $225-$235K. Commensurate with training and experience.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a M.D. or D.O. degree and be licensed in or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida and be board certified/board eligible. Completed residency in psychiatry. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Strong written communication skills.

Preferred: Fellowship training in Addiction Medicine, or Child & Adolescent. Prior clinical experience working with the collegiate-age population.
