The Blount Re-Entry Bachelor's Level Team Leader
Summary of role of team :
- The Blount County Transition Campus RRHP is classified as an "adult supportive residential facility" providing 24-hour residential care incorporating treatment and rehabilitation components.
- Services are provided to include the following: psychiatric services, nursing services, case management services, wrap-around and recovery services, transportation services and personal care services.
- The Program promotes training in community living skills and increased socialization opportunities through the provision of daily leisure and psycho-educational activities.
- The program is staffed with a minimum of one staff member for every twelve service recipients 24 hours per day/seven days per week/365 days per year.
- The program provides services to adults who are age 18 and above. Service recipients must be court ordered to the program.
Summary of position :
- Responsible for implementing the daily routine of the program, which includes: assisting clients in supportive residential level of care through direct monitoring of clients, co-facilitation of educational and activity groups, assistance with activities of daily living, provision of social support, and completion of general tasks related to the maintenance of the environment.
- Must be able to work flexible hours based on the needs of the program.
- Directly supervises all Residential Counselors and ensures an appropriate level of staffing is present at all times.
- Provides on-call services to meet the needs of the milieu.
- Requires a high level of creativity, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and knowledge of recovery as it applies to the mental health and substance use setting.
- Must be able to provide transportation as needed. Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift to monitor client safety.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
- Position is based within the Transition Campus: RRHP, which is an Adult Supportive Residential facility that provides services 24/7.
- The role of the RRHP RC Team Leader is to ensure that coverage is provided 24/7 despite any weather conditions that may arise.
- This position requires frequent community involvement and group community outings.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Works in a multi-disciplinary team approach to meet clinical needs of SPMI consumers.
- Responds to all emails within 1-2 business days.
- Returns staff calls/pages within 15 minutes of receiving the call.
- Co-facilitates groups with the Residential Counselors utilizing the curriculum schedule in the activities log.
- Lead activity groups when assigned and complete Activity Log as required.
- Encourage all residents to participate actively in all groups offered.
- Assist residents during activities to ensure that a recovery atmosphere is created.
- Monitors all meals served to ensure meals meet special dietary restrictions.
- Assists clients with completion of self-care / hygiene tasks.
- Effectively implements the evidence-based curriculums during each shift.
- Clearly communicates to team members throughout shift regarding client behaviors, needs, and any other relevant information.
- Models appropriate social behavior and mentor to clients as evidenced by no substantiated staff member or resident complaints.
- Prepares meals on an as needed basis.
- Reports directly to supervisor to request any changes to staffing patterns (i.e. requested time off, changes, or call-ins).
- Arrive on shift promptly and conduct a shift update with outgoing staff.
- Assist with laundry and cleaning as needed.
2. Ensures that program productivity targets are met or exceeded.
- Takes a lead role in hiring and retaining staff. Maintains appropriate level of staffing.
- Create residential counselor schedules and provides staffing coverage as necessary to maintain staff to client ratio required by Licensure.
- Trains staff regarding program P&P and monthly productivity goals within 1 week of staff member completing orientation. Monitors Relias on a monthly basis to ensure that staff members remain up to date on required trainings.
- Provides direct supervision to Residential Counselors on a daily basis.
- Implements and addresses client monitoring system daily.
3. Promotes and maintains positive teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Addresses staffing issues or problems with Supervisor within a timely manner as appropriate to the situation.
- Organizes and develops team cohesion.
- Demonstrates consideration and concern for fellow workers and promotes harmonious relationships and attitudes.
- Attend scheduled meetings when mandatory without tardiness.

4. Effective networks with internal and external staff members.
- Maintains positive relationships with internal departments to meet program needs and maximize growth.

5. Assist in maintaining the facility and safety of residents.
- Notify Supervisor of facility maintenance needs within 1 business day of occurrence.
- Light upkeep of the facility as evidenced by the chore checklist sign-off sheet.
- Assist residents with upkeep of their bedrooms
- Prevent individuals from congregating in the hallway and maintain walkways free from clients personal belonging daily.
- Clear hallways and resident areas during emergencies by shutting doors & directing individuals to pre-designated safety areas.
- Walk through the building hourly to make sure the building is secure and ensure that all residents are accounted for.
- Conduct and/or assign room sweeps routinely.
- Perform urine drug screening of clients as needed.
- Provide direct service delivery for participants: days, nights, weekends, and holidays required
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency services as needed
- Interact and coordinate with law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies as well as outside facilitators
- Provide transportation services in Blount County and possible surrounding counties to include employment placement, support, relapse prevention and linkage and referrals
- Assist with job placement
- Conduct three month follow up for all participants after program completion
- Monitor residents consistently to ensure that the risk of elopement is minimal; provide effective intervention when elopement is imminent.
6. Complete all documentation in compliance with CARF and funder standards.
- Complete the daily client communication log prior to the end of shift.
- When leading an activity, submit completed / detailed activity log to Supervisor immediately following the activity.
- Document resident incidents, warnings, and interventions on the daily communication log.
- Complete and submit incident / sentinel event forms within 24 hours to the Program Coordinator.
7. Provides social support and assists residents with activities of daily living.
- Resolve resident conflict by practicing principles of HWC training as evidences by staff report.
- Direct residents to appropriate persons / resources as needed.
- Ensure recovery atmosphere is provided.
- Ensure that all communication with clients is done in a positive manner.
- Ensure that clients maintain an appropriate level of hygiene and self-care; assist as needed.
- Engage with residents one on one to assist with the development of social skills; maintain positive relationships and remain positive / active in the milieu.
- Ensure that all basic needs are met and maintained for each resident.
COMPENSATION:
Starting salary for this position is approximately $19.85/hour based on relevant experience and education.
Schedule:
- The schedule of this position is 40 hours per week. Due to the diversity of job responsibilities, this position requires flexibilities in scheduling (days, evenings, weekends, and holidays). Days and evening shifts worked can vary based on client and/or programmatic needs and requirements of program.
- This position is residential, which requires working holidays and the position is expected to participate in an on-call rotation. This on-call rotation will involve weekend and after-hours work.
Travel :
This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business and transport clients. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. F Endorsement is required for this position and must be able to operate company owned vehicle as well.
Equipment/Technology:
Computer skills and ability to utilize company program software to properly document. Telephone and faxing skills.
QUALIFICATIONS - Blount Re-Entry BA Team Leader
Experience / Knowledge:
One year experience in the social work and addictions field and/or behavioral health and criminal justice setting required. Additional experience utilizing trauma-informed practices with individuals who have experienced physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. Experience with addiction, motivational interviewing and re-entry programming preferred.
Education / License :
A bachelor's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, CPRS, with at least 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental illness, special populations with co-occurring and dual diagnoses preferred. Must have coursework and/or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology, trauma-informed, and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention. Prefer at least one-year management experience.
Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:
- Exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal and soft tones.
- Close eye work.
- Valid driver's license- "F" endorsement.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
- This position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift to monitor client safety.
